Elevated levels are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The values are also determined for monitoring during lipid-lowering therapies or if hypercholesterolemia is suspected.
Blood collection
Fast for 10-12 hours before blood collection, i.e. do not eat solid or liquid food. Drinking water is allowed, no sweet drinks.
